1. In less than a minute, tell us who you are and why we keep hearing good things about you?
I am a fitness lover who turned her passion into a midlife second career after many years in the real estate business. My classes are high energy and challenging. I leave my students smiling and feeling accomplished. I am dedicated to sharing the message that age is just a number.
2. What were the pivotal roadblocks and challenges you encountered along the way that helped you define your path?
I experienced a high level of professional success relatively early in life. I also hit rock bottom before I was forty. During some very difficult years, I easily could have given up. But I had two young children and was determined to keep it together for them. I turned to fitness, specifically martial arts, and it literally saved my life.
3. Why did you choose this field? Who were your role models? What pushed you to learn and become who you are?
My goal, no matter what I am doing, is to have a positive impact on people’s lives. The opportunity to get to know my colleagues and students on a personal level and have them get to know me is what I find so fulfilling and empowering about this industry. The amazing men and women I meet and get to work with every day are a constant source of inspiration that drives me not only to improve my skills but also to improve myself. The person who inspired me to start teaching is one of my favorite people in the world, Catherine Hesse. She is gifted, authentic, and powerful. The fun factor in her classes is off-the-charts infectious. I often quote her in my classes.
4. What is your legacy? Do you care about leaving a legacy?
I don’t care about a legacy per se, though I do believe that raising caring, empathic, and decent humans is the most important thing I could do (and have done!) to make the world a better place.
5. What can we all do right now to make this world a better place?
We can make a difference through personal responsibility and positive connection. Now, more than ever, is a time for us to practice understanding and empathy around the incredibly unique and trying situation we are all in together. These challenging times of shared and individual hardship give us the opportunity to bridge the gaps between us to build a stronger society.
6. In less than a minute, without sounding like a used car salesperson, tell us where to find you and what is the next big thing that everyone should be anticipating from you?
You can find me on Instagram, on Facebook, and on Warrior Flow TV. I am also working with the creator of an in-home resistance-band system toward launching this amazing platform in the United States. Before our industry got rocked by the pandemic, I was working on opening my own studio. Those plans are on hold for now but stayed tuned! In the meantime, I look forward to continuing to teach virtually. I am reconnecting with so many friends from around the world as well as meeting amazing new people. It is the silver lining!
