Warrior Flow Insiders: Andrea Suarez

1- In less than a minute, tell us who you are and why we keep hearing good things about you?

Resilient | Curious | Advocate: I'm a Health Experience Partner. I help patients and caregivers navigate survivorship in an empowered way. A life-threatening, chronic disease has far-reaching impacts for patients and caregivers, including physical and emotional well-being, personal and work relationships, finances, quality of life, and ability to focus and make clear decisions. I envision creating a Connected Health Ecosystem that nurtures empathetic and engaging interactions.

2- What were the pivotal roadblocks and challenges you encountered along the way that helped you define your path?

A huge shift happened for me in 2016. I was diagnosed with a life-changing disease. I felt like a train was hitting my life, disrupting every single aspect of it. During and after my treatment, I have had fearful moments, but I believe in being present. No one had taught me how to recognize, embrace, and manage my emotions. Through my coaching training, I started building my emotional intelligence and applying that knowledge to my life. I started tapping more deeply into my intuition, allowing myself to become the observer of the situation and embrace the big picture. This event inspired me to become the Health Experience Partner I am today.

3- Why did you choose this field? Who were your role models? And what pushed you to learn and become who you are?

I have been working for more than twenty years in the pharmaceutical industry. I have seen how patients benefit from treatment management plans and support services. While doctors had given me a treatment plan for my disease, they had not provided me with a plan for living my life. I realized that something had to change. I became a certified professional coach focused on coaching for cancer survivors and caregivers.

4- What is your legacy? Do you care about leaving a legacy?

I'm not sure I care about leaving a legacy. Today, my intention is to transform the patient's experience. A life-changing disease does not define you. I feel I can serve others by helping them discover their inner power to transform adversity into a growth experience.

5- What can we all do right now to make this world a better place?

Cultivate and practice compassion. It's about taking a walk in the other person's shoes after taking yours off.

6- In less than a minute, without sounding like a used car salesperson, tell us where to find you, and what is the next big thing that everyone should be anticipating from you?

The best place to find out about me is my website. I’m excited to announce that Warrior Flow’s Trauma-Informed Yoga and Mindfulness online training will be happening on two consecutive Saturdays next month, July 18 and 25. Stay tuned!
